  1. Holy cow!
I don't know if it's only on my machine but it states that you wrote this Friday, September 1, 2017!

You must be a time traveller then!

Can you send me some lotto numbers via PM, please? ;)

    1. Hi,
Can't send lotto numbers, but can say which clones will come out next year :)
(It's just a feature on Blogspot that lets you put sort of a "pinned" post)
      Cheers!

    2. I see, yeah, this way it's on top for a given time, good idea, somehow ;)
How about a cheaper Urban Trapper soon?

    3. There was something very similar to it not long time ago..
The tendency is really to make clones of the knives most people aren't able to afford - that is why soon you will see Kwaiken style from Wild Boar, Shirogorov Jeans and Tabargan 100NS clones.

  2. A Kwaiken would be nice indeed.
I'm still surprised I got that TiLock long ago, when I see the forums I don't think even the originals sell so well.
I think I'd like to see a ZT 0450 clone, a bit like the slightly bigger and better brother of the Kershaw Chill.

With the LionSteal TiSpine I was a bit surprised when I've seen the price, in some shope you can get the original for just 20% more, why not buy that one then will all the service included?

    1. Full of morning typos, sorry 'bout that.

    2. Yeah you are right about the TiSpine, it was interesting to me because of the fact that it is a titanium integral (shows that they have mastered a new technology) and the steel (claimed to be real M390). I believe there will be a discount on that knife soon.
About the ZT - you now have ZT 0808 and ZT 0452 clones, if you want a bigger and stronger brother of the Chill (love that knife, one of my first ones) - I believe there is still a Ti copy of the RJ Martin Overkill somewhere on AliExpress. Cheers!

    3. I like the 0450 because it's close to the size of the Chill which I really like but the 8Cr13MoV doesn't really hold an edge well (even for home edc/kitchen use only). The Overkill is an overkill for my softpants at home and even though the 0808 is looking like a really useful knife it just doesn't appeal to me (maybe if I was a carpenter).

      My Chill btw:

    4. Wow, very nice customization, mine was a plain stock G10 :)
I just bought the CRKT Tighe Tac Two Tanto, not a clone but reminds me of the Chill in dimensions. I'm very happy with it so far - maybe that one will satisfy your needs.

    5. Yeah, the one with the normal blade is looking quite nice and I'd really like to try a button lock folder. Thanks for the idea :)

  3. A post on upcoming clones would be really nice.
The new LionSteel Tispine is really attractive but unfortunately I am a lefty and I don't think the Chinese manufacturers will do special runs for lefties but it is comprehensible.
I have heard that Green Thorn is doing an Anax with a titanium handle, do you have some informations about it ?

    1. The ones, that I know that are coming out are the Wild Boar Lochsa (aluminium integral), Wild Boar Kwaiken style knife (original design), Shirogorov Tabargan with CF and S35VN blade, Shirogorov Jeans and the Ti Anax (still don't have additional info on that).
But good idea about the post, maybe I'll call it Clone News :)
      Best wishes!

  4. Hey! Is this where we comment for the coin claw giveaway? That CF is amazing. I checked out your blog and it's really cool! -Joe (@knifelover88 on Instagram)

  5. Was curious as I stumble upon this blog. Which is great by the way. Im in the process of finding a Chris reeve knives sebenza. Preferably insignio style blade which I already know are hide to find on dh gate or ali express. Trying not to spend more than 100 bucks as this is my first time ordering a clone. But if it's the right one price doesn't matter. I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Looking for an exact copy. S35 steel ti handles etc. thank you -Justin

    1. Hi Justin, thanks for visiting!
The best option IMO is the Kevin John made one (small Sebenzas with S35VN) - https://goo.gl/Geh7QN . Others are not the best quality and probably not worth the price. There were some Insingo style blades a few years ago, but I haven't seen on in a while.
      Hope I helped.
      Cheers!

  6. Thank you for that & for responding so quick, this is just me being picky but what seller did you get yours from ? Bens knives ?

  7. Wow, those small KJ Sebenzas got really expensive lately.
Anyways, do plan to make a post of the knives you got 2016, maybe with a short summary how you liked each of them and which one's a keep and which you got rid of?
    Thank you :)

    1. Yeah, I'll probably do a collection update video soon.
But you can't think that the ones that I sold are bad, it's just that I constantly freshen my collection, so I sell and buy knives all the time, no matter how I like them or not.

  8. It's cool that you can re-sell them, i wouldn't know who to sell a used knife around here.
And of course you can post pics of the ones you had and write what you think about them, if your time allows for it. My special interest would be the "Magic" Mnandi and the BM 940 ;)

  9. I love your blog. Your insights into Chinese knife makers are amazing. Could you make some sort of index or tag them for easy access? Thank you.

  12. Hey there :)

You're always a good source of information and especially maker's backgrounds.

Now I have a question about a rather unknown maker (at least to me). Afaik Ruike is a company for flashlights and they also sell re-branded SRM slipjoint SAK-alikes.
Now I've found an interesting folder on their site, I'd say a bit inspired by the ZT 0808, the so called Ruike P831-SF. Two other models (P801 and 108) are available already but only the P831 tickles my fancy.
Maybe you know or can get to know a little more, when I see the weight I guess it comes with a hollowed steel handle, big plus.

    Thanks in advance ;)

    1. Hi Endre,
From what I heard so far, they are a relatively new brand by a company who used to produce Boker+ and Boker Magnum as an OEM.
They are producing their knives in the same factory as Sanrenmu and Real Steel, so the quality should be in that level.
I will try to find out more, and if something interesting will come up - I will write a blog post about them.
      Cheers!

    2. Thank you :)

Well, the P831 is certainly a nice little knife, of course if the price is right.
With the SRM 910 Plus, the Jin02 and other great folders in the sub $20 area it will be difficult to compete.
The Tekut Zero for example is looking interesting, but $25? No thanks then ;)

  13. Hi, I've just come across your blog, very nice content, thank you!

Not sure if you will be able to help me, but I've been searching for a nice spyderco dragonfly clone for some time now. There is a few posts out there, but I can't find anything for sale at the moment.

In particular there was a g10 handled version that seemed better quality than some FRN clones.

If you know to any I would appreciate it!

    Many thanks

    1. Hey man, I know exactly which model you are talking about.
Those aren't made anymore for about 2 years now.
Your best bet is to ask in the Chinese knife groups, maybe someone has is and will be willing to part with it.
If not - the Spyderco Lava clone is close, consider getting one of those.
      Cheers!
